Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card

I have an Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card. It is an internal Sound Card 'designed for the music enthusiast'.

I am one of the music enthusiasts the propaganda refers to!

I have used other makes and models of sound card over the years, ranging from Creative Labs to Realtek.

Honestly, I wouldn't look beyond Asus if you are looking for advanced sound manipulation.

I use this sound card for DJing. I use a software program called VirtualDJ to mix difference dance tunes together, just like a professional.

To achieve this, you need a good sound card that can handle professional grade headsets and output the clearest, crispest sound possible.

I believe I have found this with this sound card.

If I had a choice of any Sound Card, I would go for the Asus Xonar Essence One. It is a market leading external sound card which has Dedicated Volume Controls for headphones and speakers.

Usually, you can only change the volume for bother headphones and speakers using the one knob.

Hello Jonathan. Thank you for your contribution. Your time is much appreciated. The sound card you have is at the top end of the market.

The Signal-To-Noise ratio (SNR) of 124db is Industry Leading and reports to reduce much of the interference you get from on board sound cards (64 times clearer!).

I can understand why you want the best sound card for the DJ Mixing you do. The software program you are using looks very complicated. I'm sure it is second nature to you :)

The Asus Xonar Essence One external sound card has slightly better SNR (120db), and being external, does offer additional options such as the ones you described.

However, I think even for your advanced sound requirements, your current sound card is more than adequate at this time.

How It Works With A Mixer
by: Greetsz Martijn

Hello Jonathan,

I have the same sound card to use with Ultramixer (Something like Virtual DJ)

How do you manage the 4 channels to your mixer? Because I can select channel 1-2, channel 3-4, channel 5-6 and channel 7-8 in the software when using the ASIO driver for this card. But now I put the mixer on the red and white plug from the card and have sound on the first channel, but for the second player with channel 3-4, I don't know where to I can find to plug in the cable to bring in another channel from the mixer??

I hope you can help me!
