IE9 Enhancements Sufficient

Internet Explorer 9

I have been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that no further enhancements of the functionality is required for me.

We all like things to run a little quicker and be a little easier to understand and do.

However, I think in Internet Explorer 9 we have everything we need for a good browsing experience. Just look at all the improvements you have highlighted here!!

The only thing that confused me with IE9 is the re-positioning of the back/forward buttons, but you soon get used to that.

My experiences of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc. is quite limited. Being a creature of habit, I am happy to stick with what I know, thank you very much.

Enjoyed your website. I will be back again! :)

Thank you, Danielle, for sharing your thoughts. As you say, where do you go from here?

In my experience on Windows 7 IE works fine if you stick to rules, such as not opening too many tabs in one browser, for example.

I am finding a decrease in the differences between current web browsers.

For example, Google Chrome shows more of the web page on your screen as the tab space is on the same levels of the minimize/close buttons, whereas in IE9 they are below these.

Having said that, the amount of additional space you have for viewing your web page is nominal.

In addition, there are always new versions of web browsers being released. Now we are up to IE11, and possibly Spartan with Windows 10, Chrome 39 and Firefox 35

The Newly released web browser looks quite different to previous versions. Now they are built with touch screen devices in mind. For example, with the Internet Explorer 11 app on Windows 8.1, the URL is positioned at the bottom of the screen instead of the top.

You also get the full screen of your mobile device to view your web page.

It will be interesting to see the response to Microsoft future web browsing endeavours and whether this enables Microsoft to regain it position as the provider of the world's most popular web browser...
